County Councillor Liz Fairhurst was one of 5 people short listed for a national award for the use of new technology by local government. it reflected the wonderful work that Hampshire County Council does to use new technology to improve the lives of older people and those with disabilities.
Examples are using Alexa to switch on lights, read a story or make up a shopping list - all things that give them independence and control over their lives - giving people with autism an app on their phone with advice on what to do if something happens that would normally confuse them, and a simple tablet device that allows older people to Skype relatives thus reducing loneliness.
Well done Liz!
